While browsing around Barnes & Noble this weekend, I came across a great addition to any writer's library.  It's a book titled The Daily Writer, by Fred White.  The sub-title is 366 meditations to cultivate a productive and meaningful writing life.

Yep, that's right. 366 daily meditations/prompts to get your day going.  I've always had fun doing little prompts or what I sometimes call "Silly Writing" -- just putting together random ideas and letting my imagination run wild with it.  It's what I think of as "priming the pump".  Another way to look at it is as a form of "stretching exercises" to warm-up with before getting down to serious running.

The prompts in the book are interesting and thoughtful.  Today's meditation topic is "On Inspiration" ... something every writer needs to reflect upon from time to time.

Price for the book is $17.99 US, and I consider it well worth the money.  The next time you're browsing through your favorite bookstore, take a look at The Daily Writer
